Vega LS2 FF301 Dragon Helmet Review and Comparison with Sparx, Rjays, Studss
The bikers helmets are tested only once and it must not fail that test.
I was lucky that my old helmet was tested differently than most of other helmets, and it failed.
Its started like one day I went to buy medicine for my wife and I was in hurry. I had doctor's prescription in my one hand and few medicine and my old local make Origyn helmet in another hand. So that happened what should have happened. The helmet slipped from my hand and fell. And to my surprise the visor broke and I heard a creaky sound out of helmet. It comes suddenly to my mind if this helmet can break just by itself then can it protect me in an adverse condition. The obvious answer came in my mind. You know the answer.
So I started googling out for the best helmet that suits my pocket and should prove when it should.
I sorted below few based on lot of others reviews. The below order is based on others opinion and my mindset to buy ( depends on on availability in local store).
I have not personally seen either Sparx and Rjays, but reviews and comments by various users put them in top order.
As I knew that Sparx and RJays would not be easier to find in my local market. I went out with the mind of buying Studds Downtown full face. I chose that due to below reason.
But when I went to buy Studds downtown in "The Helmet Shoppe" I was very disappointed. They had only blue color, which I totally do not like. But I was about to compromise with that as I like it features.
But I thought of asking if they have any of imported one like Sparx or Rjays. For Sparx they said there is no helmet with such name only you can get shoes. LOL. :(
They event did not heard of Rjays.
Then I thought of asking about LS2. And he said I have "Ye wala LS2". At first I did not understand.
But when I saw I understood. By that he mean its imported but its not having Logo of LS2.
Another point to notice the shopowner said it is DOT approved but I see ISI mark at the back. So it is quite confusing.
I thought of having a test and yeah, Its something I was looking for.
Its not open face, its not having clear visor but It is very sturdy very solid and bloody fit on my face.
Even though the chances of it being duplicate one are very high 99-100 %.
But it looks solid than all other helmets in the shop.
It cost me around Rs. 3100 as I paid by credit card :)
At first it felt kind of suffocating. But when I opened all of its ventilator it was bit comfortable.
Yes I need to open the visor when on slow speed or not moving becoz its tightly fit on my head and I start sweating.
But the real wonder is seen when I used it for long ride of 135 km in single sitting. As I used to travel the same route frequently I found Vega helmet quite comfortable. Even though the helmet weighs a lot but there was no neck paid. I do not hear noise due to fast air flow at 90-100 kmph.
I am more confident and do not fear accelerating.
Below are some points that might be helpful.

- Studds downtown comes with flip off chin support. That means we can use it as full face when on highway or long routes and as open face when in city with slow traffic.
- Studds helmets are best know in India as indigenous helmets with reasonably good quality as compared to others.
- Studds downtown comes with big clear visor and tint visor which is very helpful in sunny days.

- No or minimal noise.
- No neck pain.
- Better than any other local brands.
Cons:
- Bit heavy but does not give neck pain.
- Bit fits tightly on head so suffocating. But check for bigger sizes whether they are comfortable.
